| Janine Firpo, Co-Founder, President |
Janine Firpo has over 25 years experience in technology and international development. During her tenure at Hewlett-Packard, Janine led the private-public consortium that developed the RTS and was the catalyst for the creation of Sevak Solutions. Prior to joining HP, Janine had her own consulting firm, which focused on successfully integrating information technology into emerging markets. Clients included the World Bank, USAID, and a number of non-profit organizations around the world. In the early days of the dot.com era, Janine was Director of New Media for Random House Publishing, where she targeted early stage Internet companies for partnerships, investments and acquisition. She was also involved in the early days of CD-ROM development as both Vice President of Product Development at A.D.A.M. Software and as Higher Education Evangelist for Apple Computer. Janine began her career as an assembly language programmer before the days of the personal computer. Janine holds a master degree in Marine Biology and Computer Science from the University of Florida and a B.S. in biology from UCLA.

Laura Frederick is currently the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Paynet Group, a financial technology company based out of Kenya. Prior to that time, Laura led Sevak Solutions’ initiatives in Kenya and Uganda. She was instrumental in bringing commercial vendors into Uganda to implement the vision that Sevak Solutions had been promoting there. Laura has more than 15 years experience working at the intersection of microfinance and information technology. During that time, she has been involved in systems assessment, software analysis, design and development, and user training. Laura is considered one of the most knowledgeable and effective specialists in the field. Through her consulting business, echange, Laura worked with CGAP, SEWA Bank, Chemonics and a range of other industry leaders in countries as diverse as Uganda, Malawi, Nepal, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Poland, Peru, and Nicaragua. Prior to starting her own business, Laura worked for FINCA International and the Calvert Group. She is a recognized speaker at microfinance conferences around the world and has authored several articles about the impact of technology on microfinance. Laura holds a masters degree in International and Intercultural Management from the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont and a B.A in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from the University of San Diego.
